Child Care & Education

You can be sure your child is in excellent hands.

Our Care Educators comply with The Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Quality Standards, Scheme Policies and Procedures, the Child Care Subsidy Service Handbook, the Early Years Learning Framework and Framework for School Age Children.

Registrations are by appointment only and a $40 registration fee applies to all children in the family, which is a once off fee.

As Family Day Care Cairns is a licensed service, Child Care Subsidy applied to families who are eligible.

Our Coordination Team receives funding from the Australian Government to support the operation of the scheme.

What Do Our Educators Require?

Active Blue Card

A current Positive Blue Card (as does anyone over the age of 18 currently residing in or frequently visiting the home)

Safety Checks & Audit

A home care environment that meets Family Day Care Cairns Home Safety Checklist/Audit Child Protection Training

Educators require Public Liability Insurance 

Education

Recruits are required to complete a minimum Certificate 3 in Children’s Services if they do not possess any formal qualifications. Additionally, many of our Educators have Diplomas or higher qualifications.

All educators require SIDs and Kids Safe Sleeping Training

Training

Educators are required to have a current First Aid Certificate and CPR certificate and must have completed a course in Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management

Competency in identifying and responding to child protection issues & Mandatory Reporting, Nutrition and Food Handling and Sunsmart training

Able to demonstrate an appropriate understanding of children’s needs and development

Intergenerational Practices

There are many positive benefits associated with our Intergenerational Programs for children and older adults. Intergenerational programs are a positive step towards promoting a community environment for children and the elderly, reducing ageism, exposing children to new role models, developing positive values and attitudes and building healthy relationships mutually beneficial for both the children and the elderly.

Fostering meaningful engagement and bonds between the young and old promotes new friendships with opportunities to learn of past generations and cultures. Our Educators regularly participate in Intergenerational Practices providing enriching interactions for the children.

Our Educators come from a variety of backgrounds and are chosen based on their ability to provide quality childcare and education for your children in a safe home environment.

Our Educators ensure that your child’s needs are their top priority, and are respectful of the requests and needs of families, including any cultural or religious specifications.

Our Care Educators can care for up to:

  • 4 children under school age (including their own under school age children) 
  • 3 school age children (including their own up to 13)
